Manchester City take on Liverpool in a massive top of the table clash Saturday. With Aguero returning from suspension, the squad looks fit.

Three straight victories have Manchester City entering the weekend on high confidence. Which will be boosted even further by the return of Sergio Aguero. The club’s leading goal scorer returns at the perfect time, and should be well rested for an electric game.

Here is a look at the City players that are either out injured or coming back from setbacks.

Ilkay Gundogan (Return: Hopefully 2017/18 Preseason)

Suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury that will keep Ilkay out until at least the start of the 2017/18 season. His surgery went well, as he reported out via his Instagram account. If things progress well, we could hope to have him back with the squad in late summer or early fall. Likely Replacement: With Fernandinho back, Yaya Toure is the likely replacement in the second role moving forward.

Vincent Kompany

No change in the knee injury that will keep him out until the start of the new year. Kompany will have missed the majority of the season up through that point. Thus we are yet to see how he could really fit into and contribute to the Guardiola system. Should undergo another fitness test next week to determine he is can return. Likely Replacement: Nicolas Otamendi.

Fabian Delph

Was able to participate in training with the squad on Thursday. Even if he is fit, will Pep actually play him? As we noted last week, West Brom are interested in picking up the midfielder. If he doesn’t appear during the next few weeks, a transfer will appear in the cards. Likely Replacement: Not needed, as he hasn’t featured enough to even position him.

John Stones

The centerback suffered an impact injury on his knee in the last match. The club is reporting that he only has slight swelling following the match, and luckily no ligament damage. Tomorrow he will have a final fitness test, and hopefully is ready to go for Saturday. Unless he has a setback should be a starter for the Liverpool game. Likely Replacement: Hopefully no one, as he will be fit. If not Kolarov will fill in the center.
