According to recent reports, Manchester City’s star Phil Foden is now set to miss another month of football due to a foot injury.

More from Man City News

This same injury kept the academy graduate out of the English starting eleven in the Euro 2020 final against Italy. Phil Foden joins Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and John Stones in the list of English players who are yet to return to Manchester City’s training ground.

Gabriel Jesus and Ederson are also missing from the training sessions right now due to their involvement in the recently concluded Copa America.

According to the latest news, Phil Foden won’t return until after the international break next month and will miss the starting fixtures for the premier league champions.

This means Foden will miss the fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Norwich and even England’s world cup qualifiers against Hungary, Andorra and Poland.

He over flexed his foot in England’s training session before the final against Italy. Even though it did not seem very serious in the beginning, it seems that it is an injury that City should be very careful with as it can be aggravated quite easily.

This is not the start Pep Guardiola wished for, as he would have liked his key players to be available for the start of the season.

Manchester City did not have the best of pre-season with a number of fixtures being cancelled and then to make it all worse, losing 1-0 in the community shield to Leicester City.

Phil Foden is not the only player out due to an injury for Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne is also set to miss the start of the season for them with an ankle injury, but he is set to return quicker than the English international.

Ayermic Laporte, who is linked with a move away from the Etihad, will also not be in contention for the starting fixture as he is self-isolating right now. He came in contact with a covid-positive patient on his flight back to Manchester and even though he tested negative, he still has to follow government-mandated rules.
