Khadija Shaw and Erling Haaland nominated for NWF’s player of the season

Manchester City’s Khadija ‘bunny’ Shaw and Erling Haaland have been nominated as player of the season for the NWFawards. 

The NWFawards ( The Armstrong Projects Norwest football awards) have released their lists of nominated players for this year’s ceremony and have opened up the voting lines for fans to help their favorites win the featured awards.


Khadija Shaw, who joined City back in 2021, has appeared 58 times for the club while scoring 50 times during. Her best personal season was the 22/23 campaign when she scored 31 goals in 36 appearances.


Shaw has returned from World Cup participation with Jamaica, who famously qualified for the round of 16 while eliminating Brazil just in the group stage.


Erling Haaland had quite the remarkable first season with City, not only being a part of the historic treble but having the stats of 52 goals in 53 matches.


Both of these players will have a high probability of winning these awards when the time comes, but these aren’t the only City players that have a chance of winning something, as Jess Park, Esme Morgan, and Rico Lewis are all up for the Rising Star award.


Esme Morgan, 22, and Jess Park, 21, are both teammates who are competing in the same category, therefore expressing the growing talent being developed at Manchester City.


Park spent last season on loan at Everton after agreeing on a further three years with City. At Everton, Jess was involved 22 times and scored five times. She is determined to have a good season with City while getting herself more game time.


Esme Morgan, who was present 23 times last season, is becoming quite the fan-loved defender in this Man City squad; besides her season stats, Morgan also captained City for the first time in 2022.

Rico Lewis,18, is another highly-talented name apart of the Man City roster with the capability of having a bright football career ahead. The player has scored a goal for City and has appeared 23 times too.


Manchester City were triumphant during last year’s awards, as Kevin De Bruyne was named player of the season, Lauren Hemp was chosen as the rising star, and Pep Guardiola claimed manager of the season.
