According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Manchester City’s talks with Raheem Sterling over a contract extension has not progressed due to the club’s relentless pursuit of Jack Grealish and Harry Kane.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has made the signings of English duo Jack Grealish and Harry Kane the summer transfer window’s priorities.

Jack Grealish, 25, undoubtedly Aston Villa’s best performer since the club achieved promotion to the top-flight two summers ago, is understood to be closing in on a move to the Etihad Stadium.
And Aston Villa reaching an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over the signing of winger Leon Bailey has made things apparent.
Speaking about Harry Kane, the Sky Blues have come nowhere near to matching Tottenham Hotspur’s £160m valuation for their prized asset.
However, City remain optimistic that Kane’s eagerness to leave the club for pastures new and win trophies will eventually weaken Tottenham and Daniel Levy’s resolve, the Daily Mirror reports.
Keeping that in mind, Raheem Sterling, 26, one of City’s highest earners on a staggering £300,000-a-week, wants to see how he fits into Pep Guardiola’s new system before committing his future at the club, the Daily Mirror claims.
The English winger has been a key figure in City’s three of the last four Premier League title triumphs under Guardiola. However, he struggled for form in the second half of the last campaign and lost his place in the starting XI to Phil Foden.
Sterling regained his lost mojo in the Euro 2020 tournament for England and was one of his nation’s best performers, along with Kane and Grealish. The report adds the Sky Blues remain calm over the wide-man’s future because he still has two years left on his current deal.
But the Mancunian club’s plan to tie the 26-year-old down to a new contract before the start of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign hasn’t come to fruition as of now. With the arrival of Grealish from Villa looking very likely, it remains to be seen how Sterling’s future with the Sky Blues pans out.
