According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes is in line to bag a three-year contract extension.
Ederson, 27, signed for Manchester City from Benfica in the summer of 2017 and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League in recent seasons. The shot-stopper’s strong displays between the sticks during the Cityzens’ first league title win under Pep Guardiola in 2018 saw him being rewarded with a fresh contract, a year after arriving at the Etihad Stadium.

The new deal extended the Brazilian international’s contract until 2025, but The Athletic claims the defending Premier League champions are set to offer him a new three-year deal and it is hoped that he will put pen to paper.
Ederson helped Pep Guardiola’s side win the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup by putting in a series of top performances in the net.
He also played a crucial role in City getting to the Champions League final in May; however, Kai Havertz’s only goal for Chelsea denied the Mancunian club the coveted piece of silverware yet again.
The 27-year-old has time and again proven himself to be one of the best signings in the Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium. The Brazilian goalkeeper recorded 19 clean sheets over the course of the 2020/21 top-flight campaign, retaining the Premier League Golden Glove in the process.
Regardless of still having four years left on his current deal, City’s decision to hand Ederson a new three-year deal underlines the crucial role he plays in Guardiola’s system and the club’s faith in him.
The report also states that Manchester City are planning to offer a host of first-team players new contracts this summer. Amidst rumors about Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish agreeing on personal terms with City doing the rounds, players such as Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and John Stones could receive extension offers from the club soon.
