The English Premier League is back after an entertaining summer of various international competitions, friendlies, and transfer activities. During the 2020/21 season, Manchester City won the EPL title, as well as their four consecutive EFL “Carabao” Cup. The Sky Blues will look to retain these two titles as they prepare for this new season.

As for the FA Cup, City were eliminated in the quarter-finals for a second consecutive season, where they fell just short against Chelsea. While the Sky Blues will prioritize the league, as they will want to retain the title, the Mancunians will still want to win the oldest national football competition in the world. City manager Pep Guardiola has only won this competition once in his five years in charge.

Finally, City advanced to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in their history. The Sky Blues kept eight clean sheets in 13 matches during the 2020/21 Champions League, and they won 11 of these 13 matches. Despite all this hard work, however, they fell short in the Champions League final, where EPL rivals Chelsea won the game. Having spent so much time, money, and energy trying to get to this stage of the competition, the Sky Blues were devastated that they fell short on the final step. It is also no secret that Guardiola was brought to the club to try to win this silverware for them as the Sky Blues have yet to win the competition. But no matter. Manchester City will be back to the final again.

Overall, the Sky Blues had a rather successful campaign during the 2020/21 season, but it is time to prepare for the next campaign. City will start the 2021/22 season on Sunday as they travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Matchday 1 in the EPL.

How will Manchester City fare this season? Will they win any trophies this year?
