He was considered one of the many players among Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Ayermic Laporte, who would be offloaded to make room for the English duo.
At a certain point of time this year, clubs like FC Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were lurking around to try and entice the Algerian to leave Manchester.
But the mercurial winger has put his foot down and has decided to stay at Manchester City.
In the interview, he was quoted as saying,
"“What if I want to go higher? I do not see what is higher [than Manchester City].”He also declared his love for English football by saying,“I really love England and English football is wonderful. I don’t want to leave. I still have goals to pursue here.”"

But if Jack Grealish does end up coming to Manchester, Mahrez will have to fight for the spot with another talented player. The list already includes players like Phil Foden, Ferran Torres and if they stay Raheem Sterlin and Bernardo Silva.
Do you think it is a favourable move for Manchester City to keep Mahrez within their ranks and keep him at the club? If yes, who do you think should be offloaded to make way for Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.
