With a move for Erling Haaland ruled out and Manchester United moving in the pole position to sign Harry Kane, Pep Guardiola is ready to look at Lewandowski if Harry Kane decides to go to the other side of Manchester.
Sergio Aguero’s departure to Barcelona has left Manchester City with a void in the striker department. With Gabriel Jesus also linked with a move away from the Etihad, Pep in a desperate attempt now wants to sign Robert Lewandowksi.
The Polish played a very successful role for the Spaniard during his tenure at Bayern Munich and even though he is 32 years old, he is likely to be a great tool for Manchester City to have. He does not only sharpshooting skills and an eye for darting runs but also years of experience and knowledge of playing at the highest level.
However, Guardiola would have to consider if Lewandowksi is a good long-term replacement for Aguero. Even though at the age of 32 he is playing phenomenally, it is not going to take a lot of time for us to start seeing a decline in his performances.
Secondly, with three years left in his contract, Bayern would not let Lewandowski go for cheap, so is it really worth spending millions of pounds on a player who may not be in his best form in the recent future.
Antonine Greizmann‘s name is also one that has come up in a lot of discussions as Harry Kane’s alternative and if Pep decides to pursue the French striker, a move for Lewandowksi will not happen.
However, Harry Kane is still Manchester City’s first target as the Englishman ticks all of Pep Guardiola and City’s boxes.
