In a recent interview with Mundo Deprotivo, Barcelona academy graduate Riqui Puig said that if he were to leave Camp Nou, his preferred destination would be Manchester City.

Puig would prefer Manchester City because of Pep Guardiola, as the Spaniard really admires the coach’s style of playing.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

Riqui Puig has been linked with Manchester City for some time now, especially with rumours of Bernardo Silva, Gundogan and Raheem Sterling all being linked with a move away from the club.

Barcelona are in a very messy financial situation right now and will need to get rid of some players to take care of that. With Junior Firpo leaving for Leeds United already, reports suggest the Puig might be the next one out of the door.

Having graduated from Barcelona’s youth academy, Puig has become a regular starter in the Barcelona squad. He has made 39 first-team appearances for the Catalonian club, with 24 of them coming under the current manager Ronald Koeman.

However, he is not getting as much playing time as he thinks he deserves, with the Dutch preferring the 18-year old Pedri over him.

After Puig’s desire to move to Manchester City went viral, many fans took to Twitter to try and persuade the club in making a deal for him.

Many suggested a swap deal between Puig and Bernardo Silva, a player heavily linked with Barcelona, while some suggested a similar deal with the German midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan and even Ayermic Laporte, another player linked with a move to the Catalonian club.

Some Tweets are as follow:

“Laporte – Puig swap deal? Best for both parties.”

“Straight swap with Bernardo.”

“Forget Grealish bring in Puig”

If Pep Guardiola does make a move for the midfielder, he might able to get him for cheap, even though he has an 85 million Pounds release clause, as Barcelona look to offload a few players.
