Manchester City coach responds to Barca transfer rumours

In a recent interview with Catalan tv station TV3, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was asked about the recent transfer links with Sergi Roberto of Barcelona.
City are looking to revamp their squad and one of the areas they are looking to improve is the full-back position. However, due to financial constraints created by the Covid pandemic, the club does not have the required funds to bring in all the players they want.

Hence they are looking to offload some unwanted players from the first team to try and avail some budget for the summer transfer window.
Because of this, a number of City’s players are linked to Barcelona, including Bernardo Silva, Ayermic Laporte, and Raheem Sterling.
Since Barcelona are also facing financial issues, they are looking to sign players in swap deals, hence not spending a lot of money on them.
Sergi Roberto is seen as one of the most probable players to be included in a swap deal with the Cityzens since City are on the lookout for a full-back of Roberto’s qualities.
In a recent interview, Pep Guardiola was asked about the rumors linking Sergi Roberto to the English club.
But like he usually does when asked about transfer rumors, Pep did not answer the question directly. Instead, he took the opportunity to praise the full-back.
The Spanish manager was quoted as saying, “I will not answer for these things.” and then said,
“Sergi is a Barca player . All the Barca players and all the Barca players and other great teams in the world are good, but Sergi is a Barca player and I will not respond to the national television of Catalonia.”
Do you think it would be a good transfer if Manchester City are able to get Sergi Roberto to the Etihad?
