Manchester City’s highly rated youngster signs new deal

Manchester City values their youth players immensely and with the recent signings of Kayky, Metinho, Dario Sarimento and Kluiverth Aguilar, they are readying a team for the future.

However, the club has not forgotten the youth players coming through the academy and have made sure to keep them also in their future plans. A plan showed quite clearly by the contract extension of the highly-rated Cole Palmer.

The youngster has been part of Manchester City’s academy for more than a decade and made his senior team debut in September of 2020 in an away win to Burnley in the Carabao Cup. Other than this he even featured in the Cityzen’s game against Marseille in the Champions League and has made Pep’s bench in a number of premier league games.

The 19-year old attacking midfielder enjoyed a fruitful 2020/21 season for Manchester City’s development squad in Premier League 2. Palmer played a huge part in the team’s eventual crowing as champions in the league, scoring 13 goals along the way, the second-highest in the league. He also scored the team’s winner in the FA Youth Cup Final 3-2 win over Chelsea in November of last year.

The youngster from Wythenshawe, while talking to Citytv about his contract said, “It is a very proud moment. It is a dream come true and I think my family are thrilled too.”

Cole also talked about the positive impact the senior players have had on him, he was quoted saying, “I have progressed pretty well because you are training with the best players every day, so you are only going to get better. The first-team players speak to you a lot. They give you bits of advice and tips, so it helps a lot.”

One of the highest-rated youngsters from Manchester City’s youth academy, Cole certainly has a lot of potentials and it will be exciting to see his rise in world football.
