On Monday Sergio Aguero was unveiled as FC Barcelona’s latest addition and that has officially ended an era at the Etihad Stadium. Aguero will go down as a club legend and there should be no doubt about it. With 260 goals to his name, Aguero is the record top-scorer for Manchester City and is fourth in the all-time Premier League scoring charts.
City have got a task on hand as filling in Aguero’s shoes is not going to be easy and with the summer market looming, the Cityzens are set for a busy market this summer, or at least that’s what Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman of Manchester City thinks, as per Sky Sports.

"Speaking about the need for a striker, the chairman remarked,“We lose a very important legend in Sergio Aguero, very hard shoes to fill but I am confident that we will find the right player to fill those shoes.“There are other areas within the team which need investment, not too many, it’s not about numbers it is about quality. I think the squad is a phenomenal squad, you don’t win the Premier League and reach the Champions League final without that and we have it. We will bring quality into the squad in a couple of key positions.”Source: City TV"
The newly-crowned Premier League champions have been linked with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane when it comes to signing a top striker this summer. With Inter Milan assuring Lukaku that he is an integral part of their plans moving forward, it can be assumed that Lukaku will not be up for sale this summer.
When it comes to Erling Haaland, the 20-year-old has been constantly linked with a move to City in the past few months but there are numerous reports indicating that the Norweigan striker is in favor of a move to Spain.
That leaves Harry Kane, who is the current top-scorer in the Premier League among active players.
Kane, 27, is currently in the form of his life and has been consistently racking up some impressive numbers over the past few seasons and is now finally set for a move away from his boyhood club in Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane is one of the topmost strikers in the world but has got no silverware to show for it and that remains a major cause of concern for the Englishman. With the 27-year-old labeling, Kevin De Bruyne as a ‘striker’s dream’ the rumors of him possibly finding a way to the Etihad Stadium, this summer has only been fuelled.
As it stands, Tottenham aren’t in favor of selling their prized asset this summer as Kane is contracted until 2024 at the White Hart Lane. The player hasn’t submitted an official transfer request yet and it remains to be seen if he does force a move.
However, numerous reports indicate that Kane will cost around £150 million for the Premier League champions and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected to play hardball on this subject.
"“One of the things I have learned over the years is that you need to bring in talent into the team, refresh, and particularly when you are at a high level.”, He said. This partnership has been a great partnership, he is in the right environment,” remarked Khaldoon Al Mubarak when speaking about Pep GuardiolaSource: City TV"
