Manchester City club legend and skipper Fernandinho has extended his contract with Manchester City and looks all set to play at the Etihad Stadium next season, Todofichajes understands.

Fernandinho, 36, was all set for a departure this summer but the Brazilian has been influential this season and that has prompted Pep Guardiola to try and convince the 36-year-old to play for one more season at City.

It is understood that City want the 36-year-old tied down for another season before making him a part of the technical staff as the think tank at the Eithad Stadium sees a potential coach in him.

Fernandinho’s leadership qualities on the pitch are second to none and one of his best performances this season came against Paris Saint-Germain in the all-important UEFA Champions League semi-final tie.

Raheem Sterling is one of the other players said to be close to a contract extension at Manchester City despite rumors linking him to a move to Real Madrid.

Sterling has lost his form in the last few weeks and hasn’t been played in the big games. In the semi-final tie against PSG, Sterling featured for a combined total of fewer than 20 minutes across both legs.

While it is clear that Pep Guardiola trusts Phil Foden more than he trusts the former Liverpool man currently, there is still scope for Sterling to redeem himself. With some improved accuracy in his finishing, the 26-year-old can be a very deadly player.

Raheem Sterling has become one of the topmost players in Europe playing at Manchester City but some really poor finishing from the English winger has let him and the team down on several important occasions.

With the Cityzens being linked with Harry Kane this summer, no doubt that some players will be sold but it is not clear who will it be who leaves the club this summer.

The move for Kane is expected to cost a lot.

Aymeric Laporte has been linked with a move away from the club this summer but it remains to be seen if the Spanish International is Pep Guardiola’s plans for the next season.
