Manchester City finally managed to break their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal curse when they managed to eliminate Borussia Dortmund to advance into their first semi-final since 2016.

Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden were the stars of the second leg as both the players managed to find the net at crucial stages of the game. Phil Foden’s strike was nothing short of a spectacle and is certainly a player to watch out for when Manchester City go head to head against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

Moments after the game though, a tweet was sent out from Phil Foden’s official Twitter handle which read as “@KMbappe are you ready” with an emoji indicating a handshake. Though it seemed to be harmless, it has backfired quite a bit, given the form that Mbappe has been in off late.

Having said that, Mirror now understands that Foden has now cut ties with his social media management team, Ten Toes Media.

The Social Media company also manages the Twitter handles of other leading players such as Harry Kane, Victor Lindelof, and Vinicius Jr.

The Social Media company after parting ways with the English midfielder clarified its stance on the matter and insisted that it was with the consent of Foden and his team that the tweet was sent out.

Though it remains to be unclear if Foden was directly involved in approving of the tweet, it is a matter that has certainly left the 20-year-old bemused.

Ben Weisfield, the founder of Ten Toes Media has come out with a statement saying that the company has been left saddened by the incident before clarifying that his company always sends out tweets only after receiving the consent of the player or his representatives in advance.

"“We are saddened with the current situation.Since the company was founded we have adopted a process which requires all posts to be approved in advance by the talent / representative – no exceptions. They always have been approved – that has been true for 4 years and is still true today.Phil Foden is a special person and footballer and we wish him the very best going forward.”Source: Mirror"
