For the better part of the year 2021, Manchester City have been linked with Brazilian prodigy Kayky, who rose to prominence after starring for Fluminense. Now, as per latest reports from trusted football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the move is all but completed.

The fee is actually much lower than what was previously being quoted in various news reports. Overall, this could prove to be a great move from City, given they would be getting their hands on an exciting prospect, for the price of peanuts.
For comparisons, when Kayky’s compatriot Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2019, Los Blancos shelled out a mammoth €45 million on the 18-year-old winger.
Much like Rodrygo, Kayky too can play anywhere across the frontline, causing problems to opposition defences through his cruise control, silky dribbling skills and creativity.
What can Manchester City expect from Kayky?
Hailing from the same academy that has produced gems such as Real Madrid’s Marcelo and Liverpool’s Fabinho, Kayky is dubbed as the next ‘Neymar’ in his homeland, albeit a left-footed one.
He was an integral part of the team that won the Brazilian U17 championship last year, while also helping the club finish as runners-up in the U17 Copa de Brazil.
Now that the 17-year-old has decided to move to Manchester City, he will be playing under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, who has ample experience of turning raw diamonds in polished pieces.
In six league games this season, Kayky has already netted twice. Fluminense U17 coach Guilherme Torres lauded the youngster in a recent interview with Goal.
He said, “Kayky is a player who stands out a lot for his technical quality, especially with regard to one-on-ones, and also in his quality in front of goal. He is also very intelligent, searches for empty spaces on the field and has a good ability to provide assists for his team-mates.”
Manchester City are believed to be in the market to boost their attacking arsenal as Sergio Aguero will be moving on after the end of the season. The Cityzens’ move for Kayky is clearly one of the future, and it remains to be seen whether the youngster will be able to shine for the Sky Blues.
