Manchester City boss says Aguero replacement impossible
By Swayam Ghosh
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has announced that moving for another striker who could be a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero, would be “expensive” and “impossible”. The prolific Manchester City striker who is set to leave at the end of this year as a free agent has been City’s top scorer. While Guardiola has a big void to be filled at the front, the City fans would love to see the much advertised Erling Haaland wear the blue jersey.

Manchester City recently announced the departure of Aguero who has been in the club since 2011. Although Aguero has not been part of the regular squad this season, mostly due to injury concerns, the 32-year-old has featured in 8 Premier League games and started in four of them. The 32-year-old Argentine who can be a headache for the defending opposition has not been able to rack up goals this season. His departure would mean City going for another player who can fill his boots. Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are the players touted to replace the Argentine at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City would face a lot of competition from top clubs in Europe if they were to go for the Norwegian sensation. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United are quite a few names who are in the race for the 20-year-old Dortmund striker.
However, Guardiola recently announced that he has a lot of other players in the same position, and bring Haaland would endanger their regularity in the squad. Man City and its huge squad depth with the likes of Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus who look like viable replacements is suggestive of the fact that they might not go for another striker. Guardiola’s apprehensive tone is a big hint that City would be looking forward to developing their younger players from the academy and go forward with what they have.
"Guardiola said “We have Gabriel Jesus, we have Ferran Torres, who played incredibly this season in that position, we have young players in the academy, and we play many times with a false nine. I don’t know what’s going to happen, maybe it is going to happen, but maybe we are not going to buy any striker for the next season. Today there is more chance we are not going to buy any striker for the next season.” (Sky Sports)"
Moreover, Guardiola’s comments can also be taken as a stern reply to the ones thinking that Manchester City have got enough money in their wallet to go after the player of their choice, not keeping the current financial situation in mind.
