Manchester City news in recent weeks has been dominated by the clouded future of two key players within the dressing room. Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero, two of the pillars of City’s ‘Old Guard’ are now heading towards the summer transfer window with their futures up in the air.

Both the veterans have only a couple of months remaining on their contracts and now as per a recent report on Daily Mail, some players of the squad believe that both Aguero and Fernandinho will soon call time on their romance with the Sky Blues.
For the unversed, Fernandinho already has plenty of offers on the table should he choose to jump ship. A return to his boyhood club Atletico Paranese has been mooted in recent times, should the Brazilian choose to wind down the fag end of his career, in his native country.
Gone are the days now when Fernandinho used to be among the first names on the teamsheet. He will turn 36 in May, and that becomes obvious if we look at his numbers. The holding midfielder is Manchester City’s 17th most-used player this term, a far cry from his usual untouchable status of the past.
Manchester City players Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero unsure about their future
Now, that the old warhorse is closer to hanging up his boots, perhaps it would make sense for him to make way and let some of the young guns take over.
Elsewhere, for Aguero, the situation is a little tricky, given he’s endured an injury-ravaged season of-late but there can be no doubting the goal poaching skills of the Argentinian.
Both Barcelona and Inter Milan have been rumoured to have shown an interest in the former Atletico Madrid striker. That comes hardly as a surprise, given the phenomenal numbers he’s racked up since joining Manchester City in 2011.
The diminutive forward has scored 254 goals wearing the famous blue jersey, whilst breaking numerous records along the road, winning a total of 13 major trophies in the decade since he first walked out on the Etihad’s pitch.
With Manchester City currently active in all four competitions and very much in the hunt for the ‘quadruple’, perhaps the ‘transfer talk’ could end up distracting some players.
That’s why there has been a lack of clarity from Pep Guardiola’s side as well, who’d rather have his team focused on the road ahead, and sort out the future of the two veterans later in the summer.
Until then, the rumour mill will continue to churn up gossips about both Fernandinho and Aguero, however, despite the noise, there is no concrete information as to whether the pair will still be around come the end of the season or not.
