Manchester City are playing some expansive football at the moment and looked like a very settled side at the moment. A 4-1 rout over the defending champions in Liverpool ensured that the Sky Blues have now extended their lead at the top of the table by five points with a game in hand. Sunday’s win also means that now there is a ten-point gap between Liverpool and Manchester City.

In another delightful piece of news that the Sky Blues are set to welcome is the return of their record goal-scorer and premier striker in Sergio Aguero to the training grounds, as reported by Daily Mail. It is believed that Aguero trained with the players who were not a part of the team that took on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Sergio Aguero hasn’t had the best of seasons and it is not due to form issues. Having spent only 141 minutes on the pitch, Aguero’s 2020-21 season has been hampered by injuries and COVID-19. A knee injury followed by a hamstring injury meant that Aguero had a long recovery session ahead of him. As he was nearing full fitness, Aguero had to self-isolate himself after coming into contact with an individual who later tested positive for COVID-19. To make matters worse, Aguero tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after the incident.

Into the final year of his contract, the 32-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium. Moreover, there have been no indications from either Aguero or Manchester City about a possible contract renewal.

The Argentine has managed to find the net twice in the 141 minutes that he has featured for the Cityzens. Both the goals have come in the UEFA Champions League and City manager Pep Guardiola will be excited to include his most prolific goal-scorer in his plans.
