Manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City will be without the services of their veteran striker in Sergio Aguero for at least a “few weeks”. Aguero tested positive for COVID-19 last month and it was only until a few days back that the Argentine tested negative and there were numerous reports indicating that the 32-year-old was back at the training ground, training with his teammates. Speaking to the Manchester City official website, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that Aguero has tested negative for COVID-19 but is weeks away from making an appearance on the pitch for the Sky Blues.

"“When one guy suffers COVID he needs weeks to feel better or ready. He is still not training on the field. He started moving yesterday. He will need a few weeks to come back. The important thing is he is negative, he is healthy again now, he can come back.Of course, is important to have him back.”Source: mancity.com"
Sergio Aguero has been in and out of the XI this season owing to a knee injury. The past 18 months for the record goal-scorer have been horrendous as the number of times that he has made an appearance for the Cityzens can be counted. Last summer, there was a complication in the 32-year-old’s existing knee problem and the results are pretty much evident.
Sergio Aguero is in the final year of his contract and there have been no indications from the player indicating his desire to stay nor have there been any indications from the club indicating their desire to keep their most decorated player for at least another season. Having said that, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have been keeping a close watch on the situation as they hope to land Aguero for free.
For long, Gabriel Jesus was touted as the one to take on the goal-scoring duties in Aguero’s absence but the Brazilian’s display this season has been lackluster and some pundits are questioning the 23-year-old’s capability to serve the team on a long-term basis. Having said that, the Cityzens have been linked with Erling Haaland as the prodigy’s future is looking uncertain at the moment and the player’s father was a former City player.
Sergio Aguero is one of the greats of the game and is certainly a Manchester City legend. It’d highly unfortunate to bid him goodbye at the end of this season i.e if the club decides not to renew his contract. Aguero deserves a grand send-off and which is why Manchester City must keep the 32-year-old for at least another season as Haaland might just stay at Dortmund until 2022.
