Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero is all set to return to action after testing positive for COVID-19, close to two weeks back. The Argentine has been in and out of the squad in recent times but is still an integral part of the set-up. In the past 18 months, Aguero has been battling injury issues. Last summer, the 32-year-old injured his knee and has been in and out of the XI since then. The Argentine is now fully recovered and is back at the Manchester City training ground, as reported by Sky Sports

Sergio Aguero is in the final year of his contract and there has been constant speculation over his future. It is believed that the Cityzens have started to look past Aguero as they have been keeping a close watch on Erling Haaland who is rumored to be one of their priorities for the next transfer window.

For long, Gabriel Jesus was touted to be the one to take over the goal-scoring duties from Sergio Aguero but the Brazilian hasn’t really stepped up this season. Having said that, it is highly unlikely that he won’t be given an extended run. The 23-year-old has got some good stats to back his case but this is a very crucial season for the striker.

Manchester City have battled numerous injury issues and many COVID-19 positive cases within the squad.

Despite the setbacks, the former Premier League champions have shown true resilience and grit to take a four-point lead at the top of the table. Pep Guardiola has managed the side brilliantly in the absence of his two strikers. So much so, Ilkay Gundogan has been playing the role of a false-9 and has been in red-hot form.

Kevin De Bruyne got injured in City’s clash against Aston Villa and Phil Foden has stepped up in his absence. For the first time in a very long time, all the players in the Sky Blues XI have been contributing and have been a key part of the success Manchester City have tasted in the recent weeks.
