One of the major headlines in the previous summer window was that of Barcelona being interested in Manchester City starlet Eric Garcia.

Touted as the next big thing in defense, Eric Garcia is set to move to his former club after having spent three years at Manchester City. If reports are to be believed, it seems Manchester City made it tough for the Blaugrana to land their target in October when they were unwilling to budge from their asking price of £20 million for the 19-year-old. The equation now seems to have changed. The player is desperate and eager for a move to Barcelona and is now forcing a transfer. The Spaniard reportedly rejected a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium to make the transfer easier for Barcelona, who seem to be facing a sort of financial crisis. As per Talk Sport, Eric Garcia has already agreed to personal terms with Barcelona and is set to be a part of the Blaugrana’s backline for a period of five years.

For a club that is facing its lowest ever point; sporting-wise and financially, it was always going to be tough for the former La Liga champions to shell out a sum of 20 million pounds. Having said that, a January deal for the youngster is still on the table with City reportedly lowering their asking price for a winter transfer by half.

If Barcelona decides to wait until the end of the season, they will welcome Eric Garcia who will be a free agent by then.

Eric Garcia has only made three appearances this season and that might be one of the reasons why he might want to move to Barcelona, a club that is struggling defensively.  Barcelona is expected to announce the signing of the Spaniard in the coming weeks but will try for a winter transfer before doing that.
