Manchester City turn to Serie A giants to solve defensive issues
Manchester City are recovering well post Vincent Kompany’s departure and have kept five clean sheets in the Premier League this season.
Vincent Kompany left the club in June 2019 and he was a true leader in every way. He was Manchester City’s voice on the pitch and led the backline of the Cityzens quite admirably. However, since his departure, Pep Guardiola has lacked the much-needed experience at the center of the defense and is currently eyeing Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci, as per Todofichajes.

At the moment, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake are at the heart of the defense. Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are the other two options but they do not serve the major requirement. There is a lack of experience at the backline which might haunt the Cityzens in the future. Leonardo Bonucci presents with the experience which is required to lead a backline. However, it is easier said than done.
The Serie A looks to be headed toward a dramatic finish as Inter Milan are currently sitting on top of the table and are four points clear of the Bianconeri. Having said that, Andre Pirlo has been managing Juventus well and one of the main reasons why he hasn’t allowed his team to slip down the rankings is because he has been managing his defense well. Leonardo Bonucci has been a regular starter for Juventus ever since Pirlo took over the job.
It is highly unlikely that Juventus would be willing to part ways with their veteran center-back. The Sky Blues may need to go hard if they are to land Bonucci. However, at the moment, this transfer rumor looks to be headed towards a stalemate. Having said that, one can never be sure as if the player is eager to play at the Etihad, Juventus will have no option but to enter the negotiations with the Sky Blues.
