Manchester City set to rival United for Dortmund superstar
Manchester City and Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Erling-Braut haaland.
The 20-year-old striker from Norweigh has done well enough to grab some big eyeballs. European giants such as Manchester City, Manchester United, and the current La Liga champions, Real Madrid have been monitoring Haaland’s growth at the Signa Iduna Park as the three clubs look to land him. As per Daily Mail, Haaland is being circled by Manchester City and Manchester United with Dortmund looking to cash-in on the 20-year-old’s goal-scoring ability before the release clause kicks in 2022.

Sergio Aguero at the Etihad is nothing less than a legend. However, with the Argentine in the final year of his contract, it is highly likely that he might very well end up leaving the club at the end of this season. The 33-year-old hasn’t yet negotiated a new contract with the Cityzens as his future still looms large overhead. It is highly unlikely that an extension will be signed due to his age and recurrent injury problems. Manchester City have got the perfect replacement for Aguero in their minds. Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has been nothing short of a revelation for the club. In just 26 appearances, the 20-year-old has managed to find the net 33 times. He has partnered well with Jadon Sancho who has been the primary target for rivals Manchester United for the past few months. Sancho, however, is still the primary target for the Red Devils. Manchester United, however, are keeping a close eye on Haaland.
The sky Blues are hoping to land the 20-year-old striker next summer but Dortmund are under no obligation to negotiate with the former Premier League champions. This is because the release clause in Haaland’s contract doesn’t come into effect before 2022 and the former Bundesliga champions are hoping to make the best use of him before the clause gets activated. The release clause is set to be worth around 65 million pounds.
It is highly unlikely that this deal is going to happen next summer. However, everything is just mere speculation at this stage and nothing more can be commented on it. Having said that, it is important to understand that if Haaland wants to join Manchester City for the next season, Dortmund will have no choice but to enter the conference room with Manchester City.
