Reports of a potential Kalidou Koulibaly transfer to Manchester City are heating up as the new Premier League season approaches.
Although the Kalidou Koulibaly transfer saga with Manchester City has been going on for some time now, things appear to be coming to a head. According to reports, City are looking to expedite the deal and complete it within the next ten days, with an initial £63 million fee and personal terms reportedly agreed.
With Napoli missing out on Champions League football, the Senegalese defender is keen to move to the Premier League, and City’s interest has been mutual all along. I believe his physical presence, ball-playing ability, and aerial prowess make him the right man for City, and if the reported fee is to be believed, it represents a massive win for City. With Napoli appearing to stick tight to their initial Harry Maguire-like valuation, the deal had stalled, but given the pressure on the Italian club to sell, City appear to have gotten their man on their terms.

With the new Premier League season set to begin in less than a month, City will need to be ready if they hope to retake their crown from rivals Liverpool. There is no better way to do that than by making a signing in central defense, and given the amount of time it will take to get Koulibaly ingratiated into Pep Guardiola’s system and fully up to speed, getting this deal over the line as quickly as possible should be a top priority.
Although the disappointment from City’s Champions League exit continues to hover around the club, the time to move on is now with a new season on the horizon. Perhaps Koulibaly is the man to inspire this City team to kick on and get back to winning trophies, and he could be holding up a new sky blue shirt soon.
