As the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic continues to grow, Manchester City’s return fixture next week against Real Madrid will not occur.

With Real Madrid’s players in self-quarantine after La Liga’s suspension due to Coronavirus, they have informed UEFA that they cannot field a squad for the match against Manchester City in the return leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

The possibility of a competition-wide Champions League suspension remains on the table. The outbreak’s wide-reaching impact has caused Premier League matches to be played behind closed doors, the suspension of multiple major leagues worldwide such as Serie A, La Liga, and MLS, and the possibility of moving the European Championships to the summer of 2021.
