With an extremely busy eight-day period that will see Manchester City play three games, Raheem Sterling’s fitness remains a doubt for the all-important Champions League Round of 16 battle against Real Madrid on Feb. 26.

Star Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is staring down a race to return to full fitness as City prepare for a massive stretch of games that will define their season. Sterling went down against Tottenham with a hamstring injury, but according to Mirror, has made a quick recovery and is on track to face Los Blancos on Feb. 26.

After City’s match against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium was rescheduled at the end of the Premier League’s winter break on Feb. 19, City will play three games in eight days, with an important domestic match against third place Leicester City in between the West Ham and Real Madrid fixtures.

City absolutely need Sterling to be fully fit and at his best if they are to advance against an in-form Madrid team. The two legs of this clash will almost single-handedly determine the fate of City’s season, and their star winger must show up in the biggest moment of 2020 so far, although he had been in relatively poor form in recent weeks prior to his injury.

Sterling’s fitness will be a huge deciding factor in one of the season’s most important games and one of the biggest storylines as the Champions League returns. With so many fixtures in such a short span, City will need to have all hands on deck, and Pep Guardiola’s team will need to re-discover their best form as we come into the business end of the season.
