Ederson

I like Ederson a lot but he is developing an uncanny knack of conceding the first shot on target which he faces. Admittedly it is seldom ever just his fault, but the regularity with which it happens is of concern.

Benjamin Mendy

Mendy put in a good shift on the left, powering up and down and creating overloads and sending in crosses. However when we start flinging in random crosses I always think it is because we are running out of ideas. Looks more similar now to the player we signed from Monaco.

Player Rating 8

Fernandinho

He does so much good work that he can be forgiven the odd mistake, conceding the own goal because his feet were planted all wrong. Spent much of the game looking like our only defender.

John Stones

Watching John Stones is akin to watching karaoke. Some of the parts are good but on the whole it is not a professional performance. Out of position many times today, weak challenges in dangerous positions and never felt or looked confident. He may still have a career as a top flight defender but maybe not with us.

Player Rating 4

Joao Cancelo

Good pressing forward but less disciplined going backwards. I still struggle to understand why he may be an improvement on Danilo.
