Ilkay Gundogan

Not enough energy or tempo and strangely absent when they broke to score. His presence in all of our worst performances this season is becoming a worry. Undoutedly a classy player but some of his displays are sub standard and we cannot afford that in this league.

Kevin de Bruyne

Flashes of brilliance but slightly off the pace some of the time too. This was a team he should have cut to pieces but struggled to cement an impression. He puffed around the pitch, blowing out hia cheeks, but we missed his best. The second goal arose from a move where the ball broke down and he was not quick enough to react.

David Silva

Maybe my favourite City player of all time, but this is not how I want to remember him. I would rather a higher energy player be deployed rather than relying upon his experience. I would prefer to see Silva brought on to control the ball and see out results. Instead we saw his involvement in passing the ball without purpose, where we sought to keep the ball in perpetual motion rather than had a plan about what to do with it.
