As the season wraps up, thoughts are already gearing towards next season. Of course there is the World Cup in the summer, but the press are already talking about Manchester City’s defence of the title. Which players will Pep bring in to win that elusive back to back title win.

More pressing for fans was the announcement that there would be an increase in season ticket prices. Reports were that fans were disappointed with the ticket increase, but the most expensive ticket has only gone up £20. Going from £920 to £940 it still represents good value for money when you think about the style of football the blues have played.

More from Man City Square

Even with the increase it is still cheaper than going to watch the turgid football played at the Swamp. Their most expensive ticket remains the same as last season, £950. Head down to Arsenal where their CHEAPEST season ticket will only be £59 less expensive than our most expensive, and you see it could certainly be worse.

Overall there will be a 3% increase in Manchester City tickets. That has been put down to inflation and operational increases. Looking at the value in interactive pre match entertainment, it is not hard to see why the increase had to be made.

Of course some fans took to social media to voice their opposition to the increase. I decided to put the question out via my Facebook page to the members of the Prestwich and Whitefield MCFC supporters Facebook page.

The response from those members was positive on all counts. Stacey told me that her season ticket has only gone up £10, and she has already renewed. As she told me, for the style of football being played at the Etihad, it is well worth it.

Another member, Chris, echoed those thoughts. For him, he has only seen a £10 increase in the last three seasons. Considering the amounts being charged at some other clubs, he says he can’t complain. Graham simply said that at £310 he was certainly renewing for the final season.

I did reach out to the club for comment but am yet to hear back. If you are season ticket holders, let me know in the comments what you think of the price increase. Will you be renewing your ticket and what are your thoughts of the price you are paying to go see the beloved Blues?

I cannot wait until the yearly ‘Cost of the game’ paper the BBC always publishes at the beginning of the season to see exactly where we stand on all different aspects of the match day price paid by the regular supporter.
