Sanchez to Manchester City on hold as Wenger loses his mind
With only a couple of days to go until the transfer window opens, and the rumors have already started. Talk from some quarters suggest that the long running sage of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City has already been completed.
Apparently a contract which will keep the Chilean in Manchester until 2021 has been agreed, and potentially already signed. I don’t think there is any one who doesn’t think he will eventually end up at Manchester City, with the debate centering around ‘when’ not ‘if’.
The sticking point for a January move will be the potential fee Arsene Wenger asks the blues for. Six months from now he will be available for free, and four months prior we offered in excess of £70 million.
Remember Arsene tried to secure Raheem Sterling as a make-weight player in order to facilitate the transfer in the summer. Many City fans at the time, including myself, laughed at that suggestion. Now, given his form this season, it shows exactly the reason Pep wanted to keep him.

For January I have seen a report, albeit unsubstantiated, that Arsene still has a City player in mind for a part-exchange deal. This time it is Captain Vincent Kompany.
Given the frustration with injuries, and Pep looking for more reliability at the back, this deal could give him pause for thought. I personally don’t think it will happen. If true though it shows you just how desperate Arsene has become to get something for Sanchez.
Taking Vincent Kompany off the table, getting Sanchez in earlier rather than later, will benefit City. Some fans are concerned that the arrival of Alexis will signal the exit of Sergio Aguero. I am under the impression that Sergio will most likely leave at the end of the season anyway, and so it really makes no difference.
Let’s face it, if Aguero is to go he will be cup tied as far as the Champions League go. It would make no sense for him to go until the season’s end. For Sanchez, coming in now, will benefit him and us.
It will give him half a season to bed himself in the team. If you believe the Premier League is already won, then he will do it with little to no pressure. He will also provide top quality rotation for the front line which will be essential in the latter part of the season, if we go deep in all competitions.
The bottom line is that we need to trust Pep. We criticised him when he told Joe Hart he was not going to play. A season of Claudio Bravo wasn’t the greatest, sure, but Ederson is now showing us what Bravo should have been.

As a result Bravo is even putting in some decent performances when he is called upon. Pretty much all his signings have improved the squad, whether it be Walker on the right or some others adding quality to our bench. Aside from that he has seemingly improved some others, none more so that Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi.
I say come on in Alexis, the water is fine!
