In two matches they didn’t have to win, England might have failed to entertain, however got the three points in both matches against Slovenia and Lithuania, respectively.

More from Man City News

Who says Kyle Walker can’t pass? Walker capped off a very solid performance against Lithuania with a fantastic ball into Harry Kane in the 94th minute to put them up a goal and solidify their qualification. Here is that goal. Walker played the full match, and fortunately was rested against Lithuania as an unused substitute. Great year from the lad thus far.

Raheem Sterling started the match against Slovenia in the 10 role, playing right under Harry Kane. He looked very threatening at times, however, Slovenia did a good job of cutting down the space for him and the rest of England’s midfielders. Sterling always looked to be a threat on the break and did provide a great ball for Marcus Rashford around the 63 minute mark. Will be interesting to see if Sterling remains a part of this lineup. I think he deserves it. Sterling was also an unused sub in their second match.

John Stones also started the match against Slovenia, partnering alongside Gary Cahill in the back. He didn’t look as confident and assured as he has in the City shirt, but it was still a relatively solid performance from him. It’s looking more and more like he will be the starter come World Cup time. He just needs his team to start scoring more often and have a solidified lineup.
