Manchester City talisman back training.
It has been less than two weeks since Aguero was involved in a car accident. News broke that the City striker, and record chaser, had sustained injuries and would miss the Chelsea game. Fears were that, beyond the important Chelsea game, the Argentinian would be out for around two months.
That would, of course, include the visit to Stamford Bridge, but also two important Champions League games. I had previously written about the games he would be missing for us, given the prognosis at that point. Now it seems Sergio has taken back to light training and, although the Stoke game might be too soon, it does give Pep a boost.

Personally I am thinking, even if he is fit come Saturday, he should probably still miss that one out. At the very most, maybe a substitute appearance. The last fifteen or twenty minutes, if things are going City’s way, bring him on to stretch his legs.
As far as the Eric Brook record goes, there is a weird irony between the record holder and the one who should break it 78 years later. Eric Brook was involved in a car crash on November 18th 1939. He missed the next game, at home to Stoke, before returning for one more game. Diagnosed with a fractured skull, Brook was forced to quit.
On 175 goals, prior to his accident, his final two came away to United and home to Wrexham. Of course there is no Wrexham in the top flight, but there is a United. By the time we play them at the beginning of December you would imagine Aguero would be City’s all-time top goal-scorer.

The romantic part of me would love Aguero to take the record from Brook when we travel to Huddersfield. That game, on Sunday 26th November, comes just one day shy of the 110 years since Brook was born.
It would be fitting as Eric Brook scored his very first goal in a City shirt 60 years and (around) 60 days before birth of ‘Kun’.
