Alexis Sanchez is not the answer for Manchester City. So why is the club wasting its time with the unsettled Arsenal star?

Ughhh!!! If the rumors are true, Manchester City apparently levied a £55 million for Arsenal forward Alexis, according to The Daily Star.
And surprise, surprise: Arsenal, despite its woes with its talisman, told Pep Guardiola and company to shove it.
Has Pep learned his lesson from the ill-fated attempt? The Daily Star implies that he hasn’t, mentioning negotiations are on-going between City’s officials and Alexis’ agent.
Hopefully, he outgrows his infatuation with the Chilean winger he briefly mentored at Barcelona. Adding Alexis does not make the Sky Blues better. Where does he play? Up top as a forward or a winger? Who sits for him? Sergio Aguero? Gabriel Jesus? Leroy Sane? Raheem Sterling? Oh and how does he make City’s poor defense not so crappy?

Plus, there’s always the issue of price. Arsenal wasn’t selling their prized forward for £55 million. Whatever greater amount the Gunners would find adequate, it’s way too much for a footballer who doesn’t solve any of City’s major problems. Essentially, it’s flushing down the toilet a lot of cash that could be spent acquiring Leonardo Bonucci, Gianluigi Donarumma, Danny Rose or someone else who obviously improves the team.
I understand there are other suitors for Alexis in the Premier League — Chelsea and Manchester United according to The Daily Star. So there is a fear he could boost a rival.

Still, that’s no reason to grab another offensive weapon for a side that isn’t lacking in attacking class.
The money could be spent elsewhere and should be. It’s just a bad move from Pep and another example of his perfectionism. He’s missing the forest for the trees, tactically speaking here.
Perhaps he should take the hint and move on.
