Gabriel Jesus finally joins Manchester City, says goodbye to Palmeiras
The Brazilian wunderkind gave an emotional farewell on Instagram after flying in town to join Manchester City.
Probably the most exciting of manager Pep Guardiola‘s summer signings, Gabriel Jesus has officially joined Manchester City.
The £27 million, 19-year-old striker arrived in town on New Year’s Day, flying from Sao Paulo, according to the Sun.

Expectations are high for the young Brazilian, who led Palmeiras to the domestic league title last year. Jesus netted 21 goals in 46 appearances during the season.
Hopefully, that extra firepower is what propels City back into the title contention with table-topper Chelsea. The Blues clawed to third after beating Burnley 2-1 despite playing with ten men after Fernandinho was sent off again.
Guardiola hinted that City fans might not have to wait long to see what the promising prospect can do. The Sun also reports he might deploy the teenager as soon as Friday when City takes on West Ham in an FA Cup fixture.

After landing, Jesus issued a heartfelt goodbye to Palmeiras on Instagram. For those of us who don’t speak Portuguese, he writes:
"How painful it is to say goodbye to what has transformed your life and your family.I confess that at this point in writing this letter it is difficult to hold back the emotion. There’s a film in my head. Film with happy ending. As they always say, life passes by very quickly. Enjoy it while it’s time.I enjoyed every second with Palmeiras – this team gave me the chance to have a profession, to have friends, to have a better life, to make my dream come true. Palmeiras was my great school. When I close my eyes comes the sound of the crowd singing “Gloria alleluia, it’s Gabriel Jesus.” But life has to go on and it’s time to say goodbye, say no, thank you.Thank you firstly the Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, I will never forget you."
Sounds like a classy guy with a good temperament, perfect for the dressing room. Let’s pray he also is as dazzling and mature on the pitch.
