Jesus Navas Misses Wide Open Goal Against Crystal Palace

Jesus Navas had a golden opportunity to give Manchester City a 1-0 lead against Crystal Palace. To put it kindly, he was not successful in taking the chance, as he sent a shot wide of a completely open net at Selhurst Park.

Navas was gifted the chance when City were able to get away on the counter attack. Kevin De Bruyne had the ball on the left hand side of the field and, in his first impactful move in a sky blue shirt, De Bruyne sent a brilliant ball to Jesus Navas in the middle of the field.

Navas found himself one on one with Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, and managed to sneak the ball around him, leaving him with a wide open net. All Jesus Navas had to do from there was gently tap the ball home to give City a 1-0 lead in this challenging fixture. Then this happened.

What a hit, son. What a hit.

Unfortunately, these types of errors have become par for the course for Jesus Navas. He hasn’t scored in over a year for the team and, despite his great speed down the wings of opposing defenses, his final balls have been ineffective more often than not and his scoring touch has been nonexistent. With injuries to David Silva and Raheem Sterling at the moment, Navas will be on the field. He just needs to make more of his time out there.

City are still locked into a scoreless draw to this point in the match, which is now 70 minutes in. We will have further updates as things progress.
