Man City's rebuild is looking set to continue with the potential signings of Liverpool's Cody Gakpo and Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez. Gakpo played for Liverpool in their 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, grabbing himself an assist for Alexander Isak to tuck home. Fernandez was left out of the Chelsea squad completely for their game against Brighton and it's looking increasingly likely the Argentinian will be linking back up with Enzo Maresca in this window.

Gakpo, for me, would be a great signing. He's got all the attributes required to make an impact at City. He'd also be an excellent back-up to Erling Haaland, especially now Omar Marmoush has left the club to join Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan.

As for Fernandez, he is a top-class midfielder. But it's everything that comes with that talent that puts me off. It's very rare indeed that the Blues sign such a polarizing player. It's looking likely, though, that Fernandez will join. After the departures of Tijjani Reijnders and Nico Gonzalez, coupled with Rodri moving on and Bernardo Silva leaving earlier in the summer, a midfield rebuild is required.

Man City have already started to replace those players. Elliot Anderson looks an excellent buy, he's been superb in his first two games for the Blues. Ayyoub Bouaddi made his debut against Crystal Palace, in the ten minutes+ he played, he looks some player! Composed on the ball, great passing range and reads the game so well.

The drop-off between those two players to Mateo Kovacic is getting bigger. I'm a Kova fan, but he certainly couldn't be our main man in midfield for the rest of the season. True, Marc Guehi has played there in the opener, and was magnificent. But in reality, another out-and-out midfielder is needed. I just don't want it to be Enzo Fernandez.

Onto potential departures. Jack Grealish was left out of the squad for the 4-1 drubbing of Crystal Palace. There's talk of him returning to Everton, where he spent last season on loan. Sunderland are also said to be interested in Super Jack. I love Jack. I want Jack to stay. I think he offers so much more to this team than people realise. In reality, though, it's unlikely he'll still be a City player come September 2nd.

Some youngsters are going out on loan, most notably Stephen Mfuni who has joined EPL side Coventry City for the season. It will be great to see how Mfuni does in the Premier League, he's had some exceptional performances in the Academy.

So, transfer deadline days looks set to bring us two incomings in Gakpo and Fernandez, and one high profile outgoing in Jack Grealish. What a summer of change! Happy with the business done, Blues?
