After weeks of rumors surrounding his future, latest reports suggest that Cody Gakpo has told Liverpool he wants to join Manchester City. According to David Ornstein in the Athletic, a move is looking incredibly close.

I think, if it goes through, this is a good move for City. A versatile player, Gakpo can play up top or as a winger. While his goalscoring record isn't spectacular, he's scored 33 EPL goals in 129 appearances, he still offers a huge amount going forward. He's tall, strong, would be great back-up to Erling Haaland as well as offering something different to Antoine Semenyo and Jeremy Doku on the wings. His work ethic is another standout quality.

He'd be pretty much a straight replacement for Omar Marmoush, who's joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan.

City might not be done there, either. There's still strong rumors surrounding Enzo Fernandez and the Blues are looking to get that deal done before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

A summer full of changes for Man City. New manager, new midfield and potentially a new striker if Gakpo comes to the Etihad. City are looking good, two wins from two and a superb performance against Crystal Palace sets us up nicely for what will be a busy September. City play in three competitions next month, the EPL, Champions League and EFL Cup, including a Manchester derby on September 13th.

What do we think, Blues? A good move or do we have better already? For me, Gakpo would prove to be an excellent signing and I'm hoping this is a deal that gets over the line.
