After a demanding September 2024, Manchester City have continued to perform well in the 2024/2025 season. The Sky Blues are still unbeaten in their campaign. In the English Premier League, they defeated Brentford before earning two draws in difficult matches against Arsenal and Newcastle. As for the EFL “Carabao” Cup, Manchester City defeated Watford in Round Three of the competition. Finally, Manchester City drew Internazionale on the opening day of the new format of the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League.

The Sky Blues will now turn toward another set of fixtures which will see them compete in the same three competitions. In October 2024, Manchester City will play six matches. They will need to be at their best, especially as the English Premier League inches closer to the hectic festive schedule from November to February.

Manchester City will begin the month away in Slovakia as they travel to Bratislava. On Matchday 2 of the Champions League, Slovan Bratislava will host Manchester City on Tuesday, 1 October. This will be the first matchup between these two clubs.

Following this encounter, Manchester City will return to England where they will host Fulham on Saturday, 5 October. The Cottagers have previously troubled the Sky Blues, and the matches between these two clubs have been tight. Manchester City eventually prevailed in the encounters, but it is expected this will be a close affair.

After these two matches, several members of Manchester City’s senior men’s team will travel to participate with their various national teams on international duty. The European contingent will play in UEFA Nations League matches, while the South American players will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification games.

Following the international break, Manchester City will travel to Wolverhampton to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, 20 October. The fixtures between City and Wolves have been close, where Wolves have earned surprising upsets against their visitors in recent seasons. The Sky Blues will need to be careful during their visit.

Manchester City will then return to the Champions League where they will host Sparta Praha on Matchday 3 on Wednesday, 23 October. This will be the first encounter between the two sides.

The Sky Blues will remain at home later in the week as they return to EPL action. Manchester City will host Southampton on Saturday, 26 October. The Saints have recently returned to the EPL after a brief hiatus, and they will be looking to cause trouble for the Sky Blues.

Finally, Manchester City will conclude the month of October with their match in the EFL “Carabao” Cup’s Round of 16. Manchester City will travel to Tottenham Hotspur, where they will play the fixture on Wednesday, 30 October. Prior to last season, the Sky Blues had a very poor record at the new Tottenham Stadium constructed in 2019. From 2019 to 2023, the Sky Blues did not score a goal and they did not earn a single point in either the EPL or Champions League. City’s curse was then broken in 2024 when they won an FA Cup match away at Spurs in January 2024. The Sky Blues then defeated Spurs in an EPL match in May 2024. Manchester City will hope that this good fortune continues.

In short, Manchester City have a set of difficult matches in October 2024. Should they perform well, then they will see themselves as active competitors in three competitions. Poor results, however, will impact their season, especially as there is a possibility they could be eliminated from the EFL Cup in early contention. But Manchester City have faced this pressure before, and they will be up to the task.

How will the Sky Blues perform this month? Time will tell after they have played their matches in October.
