Manchester City have started their 2024/2025 campaign well. The Sky Blues had several strong performances in August. They won all three of their English Premier League matches comfortably, outscoring their opponents by nine goals to two. Prolific striker Erlinda Håaland scored seven of City’s nine goals last month, where he scored back-to-back hat-tricks on Matchday two and Matchday three.

The squad looks fit, and the players are performing well. Simply put, Manchester City were perfect in August 2024. The strong start, especially against one of the Top-Six sides, sees Manchester City currently at the top of the EPL table.

It is, of course, way too early to celebrate City’s successes. There are still 35 EPL matches to go this season, and a lot can happen. But it is so far so good for the Mancunian team.

Several members of the senior team will now depart over the next two weeks to participate with their respective national teams. Many of City’s European players will compete in the UEFA Nations League. Meanwhile, the South American contingent will partake in various 2026 World Cup qualification matches.

After the international break, the senior team will return, where the players will hope to continue their strong form from August strong form. They will play four games across competitions in September 2024.

Manchester City will host Brentford on Saturday, 14 September. The Bees have previously troubled the Sky Blues, where the London team notably overcame the Mancunian side in both EPL matches during the 2022/2023 season. Both clubs have seen changes in their squads since those encounters, and City overcame Brentford in both EPL ties during the 2023/2024 season. The home team will look to continue their winning ways against the visitors.

Four days later, the Mancunians will shift their focus to the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City will host Internazionale in their first match of the 2024/2025 season on Wednesday, 18 September. The Sky Blues notably defeated the Nerazzurri in the 2022/2023 Champions League Final. Aside from that match, the two teams previously played in friendlies in 2011 and 2010. City won 3-0 in 2011, while Internazionale won 3-0 in 2010.

After the Champions League encounter, Manchester City will return to EPL action. They will host Arsenal on Sunday, 22 September. The Gunners have challenged the Sky Blues for the EPL title over the last two seasons, and Arsenal will look to continue putting pressure on Manchester City this season. Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are currently undefeated at home in the EPL against Arsenal and Mikel Arteta in the EP. Guardiola and his men will hope to continue this undefeated streak while Arteta and his side will seek to earn their first EPL victory against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The Mancunian club will then conclude September 2024 with a visit to Newcastle. The Magpies will host the Sky Blues on 28 September. Recent encounters against these two sides have been high-scoring and entertaining. Both teams have started well this season, and it is expected to be another entertaining match.

Overall, the Sky Blues will face many challenges this month. They will play against three difficult opponents in the EPL, and they will compete against stiff opposition in their Champions League opener. How will Manchester City fare in September 2024?
