After the eventful European Championships and Copa América, members of Manchester City’s senior men’s team have gathered in the United States to participate in a series of friendly matches. The tour will conclude on Saturday, 3 August, where the Sky Blues will then travel back to Manchester to prepare for the upcoming 2024/2025 English Premier League season.

Last season, Manchester City made history by becoming the first English side in the top flight to win the league in four consecutive seasons. City also won their first-ever UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

But there are also some disappointments. The Sky Blues fell short in the FA Cup Final, and they were knocked out by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16. They also did not advance far in the EFL Cup. Despite these shortcomings, there was still much to celebrate.

Now, much will be at stake during the upcoming campaign. According to reports, Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola’s contract is set to end in the summer of 2025. During his time in Manchester, he has won one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one UEFA Champions League, six EPL titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, and two FA Community Shields. If this is his last year in charge at the Mancunian club, he will be remembered as one of City’s best managers in history.

Manchester City will have four games in August. They will play in the FA Community Shield match, and they have three EPL fixtures.

The Sky Blues will begin their 2024/2025 campaign with the FC Community Shield on Saturday, 10 August, at Wembley Stadium. They will face cross-town rivals Manchester United. Their last meeting came on Saturday, 25 May during the FA Cup Final. City were sluggish on the day, where they were beaten 1-2. While the FA Community Shield is the unofficial start to the season, the Sky Blues will hope to defeat the Red Devils.

Manchester City will then officially start their EPL season with a match away at Chelsea on Sunday, 18 August. The affairs between these two sides were very entertaining during the 2023/2024 season, where the match at Stamford Bridge ended in a 4-4 draw. The reverse fixture in Manchester later that season ended in a 1-1 draw. Based on the development and talent of the squad, it is expected that this will be another interesting encounter.

Following this match, Manchester City will host their first home match of the 2024/2025 season on Saturday, 24 August at the Etihad Stadium. They will welcome Ipswich Town to the EPL. The last time these two sides faced one another in the EPL was during the 1999/2000 season. Ipswich Town won both matches. A lot has changed at both clubs since this encounter. The Sky Blues will hope to defeat the Tractor Boys in this game.

Manchester City will then conclude the month with a match away at West Ham United. The game will be played on Saturday, 31 August. The Sky Blues defeated the Hammers 1-3 in this fixture last season, and the visitors will hope to earn another victory at London Stadium.

In short, the Sky Blues will soon be back in action. Will they retain the 2024/2025 EPL title for a fifth season in a row? Will they win any other trophies in the upcoming season? Time will tell what is in store over the next ten-month period.
