With Pep Guardiola having called time on his spell as Manchester City manager after a decade of dominance, a new era is set to get underway at the club. With Guardiola gone, City's leaders such as Rodri, Erling Haaland, and Ruben Dias will be crucial. However, suddenly the future of Ruben Dias is reportedly uncertain. Dias is a player that City cannot lose as they begin a new era.

A new report from CaughtOffside indicates that Ruben Dias is considering his future at Manchester City. Real Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG are all credited with an interest in signing the resolute centre-back. It is also reported that Ruben Dias is unsettled at City following Pep Guardiola's departure.

Ruben Dias remains an important player at Manchester City. He is Manchester City's defensive leader. The leadership traits of the Portuguese international will be crucial to City next season. Also, you feel that City cannot afford to lose a crucial player and leader, with a new era at the club set to get underway.

Manchester City cannot afford to lose a player whose presence is vital to them.

Bernardo Silva has already left Manchester City, as has John Stones. Those are two experienced players that City have lost. There are also doubts surrounding Nathan Ake's future. If City were to lose those three players, there would be a leadership void in their squad. If Ruben Dias were to leave City this summer as well, it would be a massive blow.

Across the second half of the 2025-26 season, Ruben Dias lost his place in Manchester City's starting lineup. Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guehi became City's first-choice center-back pairing. Injury hampered Dias. Also, Khusanov and Guehi's games complement each other superbly. Their form was superb which kept Dias out of City's starting eleven when he was fit.

Despite this, Ruben Dias remains an integral player to Manchester City. When fully fit, he is an elite defender in the Premier League and Europe. Players like Dias are hard to find. When you factor in the leadership and experience that Ruben Dias adds to City, he isn't a player that City can afford to lose. Dias also signed a contract extension with the FA Cup holders last season. So he is still extremely vital to his team.

Manchester City is set to embark on a new era after Pep Guardiola's decade of dominance as manager. To remain successful in the post-Guardiola era, City will need their leaders to show the way. Ruben Dias is one of those players, and Manchester City cannot afford to lose him this summer.
