With five matches remaining in the Premier League title race, Manchester City cannot afford any slip-ups. On Saturday evening, Arsenal steamrollered Fulham 3-0 in North London, all the goals coming in the first half, with Mikel Arteta's team putting in their best performance for a very long time.
Thus, the Gunners are six points clear at the top, albeit having played two games more, meaning Pep Guardiola's team have no margin for error. Well, on paper, Monday night is one of the Sky Blues' tougher-looking remaining fixtures. Having said that, their record against Everton on Merseyside suggests otherwise.

Manchester City won each of their final nine visits to Goodison Park, scoring 22 goals and conceding only four, often doing so at crucial times in the season. Overall, the Citizens are unbeaten in 18 meetings with the Toffees, winning 15 of them, including a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture.
The last time the Evertonians had a victory over Man City to celebrate came during Guardiola's first campaign. Back in January 2017, the Sky Blues were demolished 4-0 at Goodison, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas, Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman all scoring, a day in which the conclusion was drawn that Guardiola's football would never thrive in England. That view did not age well.
Monday night will of course see Man City visit Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time, with Everton having won six but lost seven at Bramley-Moore Dock to date. If the serial champions are not to drop points on Merseyside, when are they most-likely to do so?
Manchester City's remaining fixtures

- Saturday 9 May: Brentford - Etihad. Kick off 5:30pm.
- Wednesday 13 May: Crystal Palace - Etihad. Kick off 8pm.
- Saturday 16 May: Chelsea - Wembley. FA Cup Final. Kick off 3pm.

As was widely reported last week, Man City were not happy with the re-scheduling of their two mid-week games. Either side of the FA Cup Final, the Citizens will host Crystal Palace and then travel to Bournemouth, all in the space of seven days. Thus, there are still plenty of obstacles for this team to overcome but, should they win all six games, starting at Everton on Monday, they'll more than likely become only the second team to collect a domestic treble, after Man City themselves seven years ago.
