Manchester City and Leila Ouahabi have announced that they will be parting ways when the season comes to an end.
The latest news from Manchester City’s women’s team has been that Leila Ouahabi will be exiting the team after their FA Cup final on Sunday. This comes alongside the big announcement that Khadija Bunny Shaw would be remaining at the club after signing a four-year deal.
After joining four years ago, Ouahabi has become a vital player within this City team, including during the term they just had, which saw them claim the Women’s Super League title, her first honour with the side.
She will make her 106th appearance during the meeting with Brighton this weekend, and this will be her final participation as a Cityzen.
The Spanish player’s upcoming venture isn’t known yet, but she will have her pick of clubs; that is for sure.
She joins Laura Coombs, who also has only one Manchester City fixture to feature in as she looks to retire from football. These two key women will be big absences.
But after a very successful term, they will be pleased to leave on a positive note after helping get their side to triumph.
Leila Ouahabi’s goodbye to Man City
“It’s been four good years in Manchester, but it’s inevitable to feel sad when you’re leaving a place that feels like home.”
“I will keep an eye on City’s results, and I will be just another fan.”
"Sunday is going to be my last game with this shirt, and I nwated to say thanks for all the support over the past four seasons.
“It was a big chance for me and a new personal challenge due to a different culture. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, because coming here has brought me so many positive things and I have met incredible people.”
“For the fans, just a huge thank you for always being there for me, supporting us and being there in every achievement we’ve accomplished.”
“It hasn’t been an easy decision, but I felt it was time to close this chapter, think about myself and make the best decision for my future.”
