According to recent reports, Manchester City are one of the five clubs now interested in signing a certain Premier League striker. Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are said to have been ‘long term admirers’ of the striker but have not made a move for him yet.
The player in question is none other than Everton and England national team’s striker Dominic Calvert Lewin.
His recent performances for Everton have earned him 11 England caps, and a long list of admirers all over Europe, with several clubs, said to be interested in the 24-year old.
Since joining the Toffees in 2016, Calvert-Lewin has scored 56 goals and provided a further 16 assists.
According to the report in the Telegraph, Newcastle United, under their new multi-million dollar ownership have put him on the list of potential transfers.
The report also suggests that Manchester City, cross-town rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are also in pursuit of the striker with the two Manchester Clubs being labeled as “long-term admirers”. An unnamed Bundesliga side is also set to be in the race for the English international.
Manchester City are in desperate need of a natural striker, following their failed pursuit of key names like Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo during the recent summer transfer window.
However, Manchester City have also been linked to a host of other strikers recently including Victor Osimhen, Amine Gouiri, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Mikel Oyarzabal, Piere-Emrick Aubameyang, Raul Jiminez, and even Benjamin Sesko.
While Dominic Calvert Lewin is not only an expert target man also capable of playing as a poacher and would benefit from ball-playing experts like Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, and Phil Foden, do you think he would be a good fit for Manchester City?
Do you think he has it in him to be a striker for the premier league champions?
