Manchester City have been desperate to land a ‘top notch’ striker this summer and hence had turned to Harry Kane as a viable option for their no.9 spot in the squad. However, there has been a major development in the Kane transfer saga as per the latest reports.
After a lot of speculation on Harry Kane’s future at Spurs, it has been confirmed that the Englishman is all set to stay at North London this season. On Twitter, the Tottenham Hotspur forward had officially announced that he is willing to commit his future at Spurs and hence will not leave the club in the ongoing summer window.
Kane’s latest revelation will surely come as a huge blow for Manchester City, who have been hellbent on securing the services of the forward this summer. The Premier League giants were hoping to sign the English international in a bid to replace their legendary striker Sergio Aguero.
For Pep Guardiola, this might come as bad news as he himself had declared interest for the Spurs talisman this month. The Spaniard had also acknowledged the fact that signing a top striker like Kane will be a difficult task as he said :
Harry is exceptional and we are interested in him but if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, nothing more to say
At the current moment, Manchester City have only one ‘recognized striker’ in their ranks in the form of Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian forward has been linked with a move away from England in the ongoing summer window, but now could opt to stay with the Sky Blues especially after the latest decision of Kane on Twitter.
Now with Kane committing his immediate future at Spurs, the Citizens might turn to other world-class prospects in the transfer market. Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski have both been linked with a move to City this summer.
In the past couple of days, the former has been heavily backed to sign for the English Champions. But for now, there has been no official confirmation about this potential signing. As of now, City are silent on this proposed deal and hence might decide not to buy a striker in the summer window.
