Manchester City offered a chance to sign former Real Madrid forward for £25 million
Manchester City are on the hunt for a striker. Ever since the Cityzens’ record goal-scorer in Sergio Aguero left the club to join Barcelona, the defending Premier League champions have struggled to sign their preferred target in Harry Kane while succeeding in signing his English teammate in Jack Grealish.
While City’s pursuit of Harry Kane is still on and is likely to go to the final day of the summer window, the Sky Blues have been offered a chance to sign former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, 37, will be out of a contract next summer and it is highly unlikely that Juventus would want to renew with the Portuguese despite his top-notch performances for the former Serie A champions. Juventus have been hit hard by COVID-19 and the Old Lady is currently struggling to meet Ronaldo’s heavy wages, and that has prompted them to think about parting ways with the prolific striker.
Some reports have even gone on and suggested that Ronaldo’s heavy wages are the reason why Massimiliano Allegri hasn’t been allowed to have the transfer market that he would have wanted. Juventus structuring of the deal for Manuel Locatelli is also a testament to the fact that the former Serie A champions are struggling to balance their books.
Juventus and Sassuolo have agreed on a two-year loan deal for the Italian midfielder following which Juventus would be obligated to buy the 23-year-old for £30 million.
It is understood that Jorge Mendes has offered City the chance to sign Ronaldo for £25 million, a sum that would be considered as a bargain fee by many.
Ronaldo’s UEFA Champions League exploits are well known and if you look at this from certain angles, Ronaldo and City are a match made in heaven, especially since the Sky Blues are chasing their maiden UCL title.
While Harry Kane still remains as City’s preferred target, they could explore the option of signing Ronaldo.
Let us be honest here, though. The deal is unlikely to take place as Ronaldo attained a near-legendary status at Old Trafford during his stint with the cross-town rivals.
With Allegri confirming that Ronaldo will be staying at Juve this summer, the likelihood of this deal going through has gone down further.
However, if the deal does go through, it will be a steal by all means for City, who are willing to splash £150 million for Harry Kane despite Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy playing hardball in the negotiations.
