Borussia Monchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl has recently told the media that they have received offers for their star midfielder Denis Zakaria, and he may well be on his way out of the club. Manchester City are said to be one of the front runners for the Swiss midfielder.

In a press conference ahead of Gladbach’s DFB-Pokal game against Kaiserlautern, Eberl was quoted as saying, “There are a lot of offers , so we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the next few days and weeks.”
Zakaria, who has been on City’s radar for a long time, had an impressive Euros 2020, albeit the own goal against Spain in the quarter-finals. These performances in the Euros have upped his stock and now a lot of suitors are fighting for his signature.
Pep Guardiola looks at the 24-year old as a long time replacement for Fernandhinio, as Rodri has failed to really live up to the expectations of the Spanish manager.
Arsenal also have been linked with a move for the midfielder but with the lack of continental competition, it is Manchester which seems like a more attractive option for the Swiss star.
Zakaria is entering the final year of his contract and if City move swiftly they can bring the Swiss Midfielder to the Etihad for a cheap fee.
Manchester City have also been linked with a move for another Borussia Monchengladbach, player, Florian Neuhaus.
A disappointing season for Borussia Monchengladbach saw them finish outside of the European spots, hence giving Zakaria more of a reason to leave the club in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Do you think Zakaria will be a good signing for Manchester City? Do you think he will be able to fill the void in the midfield and help City perform even better next season?
