Manchester City are now close to their first big signing of the summer
By Zoheb Alam
Manchester City are now on their way to bag one of their “priority” targets this summer as recent developments suggest that Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish could soon wear the Sky Blue shirt by the start of the new season.
Sky Sports understands that Manchester City are almost ready to agree to a 100 million pound deal for Grealish. Sky’s latest revelation has further added that Aston Villa is ready to accept City’s latest offer and hence will let the star midfielder join the English Champions this summer.
The English international had a decent tournament with the Three Lions in the recently concluded European Championship. Even with limited appearances, the midfielder had put some fine cameos for Gareth Southgate’s side, and had steered his country to a place in the final of the competition.
At present, the 25-year-old is training with his current employers in London, but, could soon shift base by the end of this week. For Dean Smith, this could well be a big blow for his side just before the start of their new season as he will now have to find a proper replacement for Grealish.

Last season, the Birmingham born midfielder had an excellent league campaign with the Lions as he scored six goals and had gathered 10 assists for his side.
Also, his consistent outings in the Premier League have attracted interest from the top sides in England. Besides Manchester City, the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to have been interested in the signature of the Englishman.
Assuming that Manchester City have won the race for Grealish, this transfer deal could also well become the club’s most expensive signing. We can expect the Cityzens to announce this proposed transfer before the Community Shield Final on 8th August. On an optimistic note, City fans might just be able to see Grealish wearing the Sky Blue shirt in the season opener against Tottenham on 15th August.
