The future of Cristiano Ronaldo remains unsolved as Juventus prepare for the next season under the returning Max Allegri.

The Portuguese international, 36, moved to Juventus from Real Madrid in a £99m deal in the summer of 2018 and has scored 100 goals in three seasons, including 29 in 33 Serie A outings last term. However, there’s been endless speculation regarding the forward’s future at Juventus as he enters the final year of his deal, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain heavily linked.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

As per reports from Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Manchester City have emerged as a shock destination for Cristiano Ronaldo.

A new number nine is of paramount importance in the eyes of City boss Pep Guardiola.

With Sergio Aguero no longer around, and Gabriel Jesus seemingly not deemed good enough to succeed the Argentinean and likely to walk out of the Etihad Stadium’s exit door, the Spanish tactician is making plans.

Guardiola, who guided Manchester City to the Premier League title and the Champions League final last season, has set his sights on Tottenham’s Harry Kane. But thrashing out a deal with Tottenham for Kane is proving a tall order due to chairman Daniel Levy valuing his prized asset at around £150m this summer.

While Guardiola’s search for a striker continues, Calciomercato claims bookies are tipping the Sky Blues to make a move for Ronaldo, who could be afforded by only a handful of European clubs because of his exorbitant wages.

Ronaldo is arguably the greatest player to grace the game, and even at the ripe age of 36 he has shown no signs of slowing down. The Portuguese striker has the potential to make City better, whilst providing Guardiola with a world-class option up front next season.

Yet, having played in the red half of Manchester for six years and earned cult status at Old Trafford, Ronaldo joining Manchester City looks unlikely, despite the bookies saying the opposite.
