With big names already being listed in their transfer wishlist, Manchester City look well on course to add some top-quality names to their team in the ongoing summer window.

However, the Cityzens may add another talented youngster to their roster this summer as rumors now suggest that the club has shown interest in a talented winger from Portugal’s Primeira Liga.

As per reports from Portuguese outlet Record, Manchester City are all set to enter the race for the signature of Joelson Fernandes. The 18-year-old winger has been backed as “serious” talent and hence has attracted interest from some of the big guns of the Premier League.

Last season, the talented youngster managed to make nine appearances for Sporting CP ‘B’ side and had netted once during the season. In the 2019-20 season, the winger was handed his first-team debut and hence has four appearances to his name to date.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

Fernandes,18, is keen to get more game-time with the first team but somehow has failed to break into the senior side at the present moment. His current employers are although interested to keep him at the club for the long haul and hence had signed a new deal with him.

Currently, the talented winger has a release clause of 60 million euros and is contracted to Sporting CP till the summer of 2023.

For City, this might be an interesting opportunity to land Fernandes this summer. The English Champions already have a couple of exciting young talents in the form of Ferran Torres and  Phil Foden. Therefore, adding another talented prospect could benefit the side in the near future.

I do feel that the Cityzens may not opt for this transfer at the present moment as the team has already set sights on two expensive targets like Harry Kane and Jack Grealish. Spending 60 million euros on a teenager might just not be the club’s priority in the current situation.

Next. Manchester City will need financial planning in order to sign the English duo. dark

Should Manchester City consider signing 18-year-old Joelson Fernandes?
